STOP (Spaldington Turbine Opposition Project) is an organization dedicated to preventing the installation of large scale wind turbines within close proximity of residents' properties. As a group we are not against current environmental thinking but we question the effectiveness and efficiency of wind farms as an alternative energy source. Even if this were proven we are opposed to the imposition of these huge structures close to existing population centres.

The United Kingdom is one of the most densely populated areas of Europe and care needs to be taken to site wind farms where they will not affect the quality of life of nearby residents and the values of their hard-earned assets and businesses.

There are also major concerns about health issues caused by wind farms including noise and flicker effect.
If there is a place for wind farms and they do prove to work please put them in places where other peoples lives and livelihoods will not be ruined!
